Notes on Vim

• To know which scrips Vim loaded, :scriptnames
• Vim uses runtimepath to determine which scripts to run at startup or buffer load time. It inspects all directories and check scripts in sub-directories to check which scripts to run
• $VIMRUNTIME is the path for all files distributed with Vim
• .vimrc is the catchall config file that is used for general edition settings. These settings maybe overridden by other plugings/scripts
• Check :options to know what are all the available options that we can set
• start would load at startup
• opt on-demand loading using packadd
  • This will add the plugin base directory to the runtimepath and sources it plugin and ftdetect scripts
  • We can use :helptags ALL to update help tags documentation
• You can use git submodules for all the packages used under ~/.vim
